Maro beach:
Just five minutes drive or 15 minutes walk, lies the beach of Maro with cristal clear water. A sheltered cove with a nice bar and restaurant.
The Nerja Caves:
Next to Maro you will find the Nerja Caves.
These are breathtaking beautiful caves, some of the best in Europe, that should not be missed if the opportunity arises.
Each July a festival of flamenco music and dance is held inside the caves.
Officially recognised as an historical and artistic monument, Nerja Caves are one of the most important Prehistoric archaeological sites on the western Mediterranean.
Dating back some five million years, they are notable for the large chambers filled with stalactites and stalagmites, and the immense length, over 4,000 metres.
Frigiliana village:
Also 5 minutes drive away, you will find the village of Frigiliana.
It is an extremely pretty village which has received several awards for conservation and beauty.
It enjoys spectacular countryside as well as wonderful sea views and good access to the coast.
For centuries Frigiliana has been a confluence of Muslims, Jews and Christians, celebrated each year for four days during the Festival of Three Cultures.
During this time, the customs, music and gastronomy of the different cultures are offered. All the bars and restaurants take part in the tapas route with delightful specialities. The best chefs from Malaga City take part in a gastronomic contest while street musicians, jugglers and circus attractions recreate a medieval urban ambience.
A street market offers all kinds of handmade products and there are concerts featuring top dancers and musicians.
Nerja town:
Nearest sea-resort is a very attractive white town that has maintained a great charm with a growing numbers of foreign residents and tourists.
The local authority adheres strictly to building regulations and new developments are built to resemble Andalucian villages.
The old part of the town, full of interesting shops and tapas bars, dates from the 14th century and has a labyrinth of narrow cobbled streets in typical Moorish style.
